Red Sea Governorate

The Red Sea Governorate, a prominent region of Egypt, is framed by the Suez Governorate to the north, the majestic Red Sea to the east, and the governorates of Aswan, Qena, Sohag, Asyut, al-Minya, and Beni Suef to the west. Its southern boundary adjoins Sudan’s Red Sea State. Spanning an area of 203,685 km² and boasting a sprawling 1,080 km-long coastline, it is a significant part of Egypt’s landscape.

As one of Egypt’s governorates, the Red Sea Governorate is strategically positioned between the Nile and the Red Sea in the country’s southeast. Its southern perimeter is also part of the national frontier with Sudan. The governorate’s capital is the vibrant city of Hurghada, complemented by five other cities: Ras Ghareb, Safaga, Qusier, Marsa Alam, and Shalatin, each contributing to the region’s diversity and charm.
